Programme Schedule - BeyondQuantum

Here is the preliminary schedule of the twelve-week programme BeyondQuantum: Introduction to Quantum and Research. Please note that this schedule might change.

The programme consists of two parts

  • The Course Stage: Week 0-1, Consolidation Week I, Week 2-3, Consolidation Week II
  • The Research Stage: Week 4-9

Students will need to successfully complete the Course Stage to be eligible for the Research Stage. In the Research Stage participants will be working on their research projects. They will have 60 min mentor meeting each week, which will be scheduled between the group and the mentor individually.

  • From 10/03/25 to 30/03/25 all times are given in CET (GMT + 1)
  • From 31/04/25 to 01/06/25 all times are given in CEST (GMT + 2)

This is due to switching from Standard Time to Daylight Saving Time (DST) in Europe. For participants from countries observing DST the times of the sessions will remain the same. For participants from countries not observing DST the times will change by an hour from the 31st March onwards.

Week 0: Introduction, Quantum Math, Quantum Mechanics

Dates: 10/03 – 16/03 (All times in CET)

  • Tuesday: 18:00 – 19:30 Talk: What are quantum technologies and what is it like to work in the field? (Dr Krishnakumar – QuantumBasel)
  • Wednesday: 18:00 – 19:00 Panel: Working in Quantum
  • Thursday: 18:00 – 19:30 The Math of Quantum I
  • Friday: 18:00 – 19:30 Foundations of Quantum Mechanics I
  • Saturday: 18:00 – 19:30 Networking Session
  • Sunday: Social time! (Optional, time TBC)

Week 1: Research Skills, Quantum Computing, Math, Quantum Mechanics

Dates: 17/03 – 23/03 (All times in CET)

  • Tuesday: 18:00 – 19:00 Q&A Drop-ins (Optional)

Consolidation Week I

Dates: 24/03 – 30/03 (All times in CET)

This week is designated for consolidation work, completing team tasks, and to catch up with school and university work

Week 2: Research Skills, Quantum Computing, Quantum Mechanics

Dates: 31/03 – 06/04 (All times in CEST, note the change!)

Week 3: Research Skills, Quantum Computing

  • Tuesday: 18:00 – 19:00 Q&A Drop-ins (Optional)
  • Wednesday: 18:00 – 19:30 Introduction to Quantum Computing III

Consolidation Week II

Dates: 14/04 – 20/04 (All times in CEST)

This week is designated for consolidation work, completing team tasks, and to catch up with school and university work. You will also choose your research project this week.
Saturday: 16:00 – 17:30 Meeting your mentor

Week 4-8: Research Projects & Expert Talks

Dates: 21/04 – 25/05 (All times in CEST)

  • Monday – Friday: Mentor meeting (scheduled by mentor with groups)
  • Each Monday: 18:00 – 19:30 Expert Talk [TBC]
  • Saturday (26/04): 16:00 – 17:30 Networking with Alumni
  • Saturday (10/05): 18:00 – 19:30 Networking with Alumni
  • Each Sunday: Social time! (Optional, time TBC)

Week 9: Poster Presentations and Peer Review

Dates: 26/05 – 01/06 (All times in CEST)

  • Monday – Friday: Poster Presentations with Mentors (scheduled with mentor group)
  • Monday – Friday: Peer Review and implementation of feedback
  • Saturday (whole day):BeyondQuantum Research Fair
  • Saturday: 19:30 – 20:30 Closing and Awards Ceremony

You should plan in time from 01/06 – 04/06 for making further improvements to your research poster and code base before it gets published
